Keith Laurin is a singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Chicago, but transplanted to the Detroit Metro area 27 years ago. At the young age of 50 years old, he began writing songs that have since enthused audience’s’ hearts, minds and souls. In the Detroit Free Press, his music has been cited as being “a cross between Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen” that in some cases “sounds like something John Lennon would write about peace, harmony and unity”. Ranging in focus from love, laughter, faith and family to socially conscious ballads, his “songs with purpose” have very quickly captured significant interest and recognition in the music industry.

The interpretation of his songs by elite artists in the Detroit area has spanned to at least 6 genres. Five of his original songs performed by Tosha Owens have won “Outstanding Song Recording” Detroit Music Awards, namely: “Detroit Strong” in 2018 (Urban), “Unite through Love” in 2018 (Gospel/Christian), “We’ve Got Hate on the Run” in 2020 (Classical), “Build a Bridge” in 2020 (Gospel/Christian) and “Love More Hate Less” in 2022 (Rock/Pop). Also, in 2021, his video produced by Nick Small for “We’ve Got Hate on the Run” won a 2021 Detroit Music Award in the category of “Outstanding Low Budget Video”. During the 2021 Olympics, NBC chose “Detroit Strong” as its “Signature Song” for advertisement of its WDIV Detroit broadcast news station.

In 2017, Keith Laurin formed Detroit Strong Music, LLC with the express interest of leveraging the incredible talent in the Detroit area to help take his music to a whole new level.
